Evans Cycles is one of the UK’s largest quality cycling retailers, providing extensive choice and value to the UK’s cycling consumers. The company has grown rapidly in the past 15 years, with a 125,000 square feet distribution centre created in Sussex, and moving from its traditional base in southern England to launch nationwide, with stores opening in Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester.
Main objective
Evans Cycles became a client of Candidate Manager in 2010 when the demand for quality candidates was increasing with the company experiencing growth in the region of 8%. Prior to installing Candidate Manager’s market leading online recruitment system, Evans Cycles used spreadsheets and paper application forms to manage their recruitment process. The main issue was the extensive paper trail. As the company began to grow, organisation of the hiring process became more difficult to implement throughout all the stores. Activities suchas job posting, screening applicants and scheduling interviews for the various locations was now more labour intensive. This was exaggerated by the fact that hiring can is seasonal, which resulted in high volumes over short periods of time.
With a growing number of stores throughout the UK, we felt that Evans Cycles would benefit greatly from the implementation of an automated applicant tracking system. We found Candidate Manager to be the most cost effective system, and the first twelve months has seen a clear improvement in efficiency. Not only has the software met expectations, so too have the people. Our account manager, and the support team, are always at hand for any inquiry or request we have.
